Poppie’s Blog 10: Three Outfits for the Fourth of July Whitney O’Halek

Your favorite travel fashion blogger is back with a fun take on your upcoming Fourth of July outfit choices! Having been based in Washington, D.C., for more than a decade, I have a deep appreciation for our nation’s history and how much we’ve come through, so I’m always proud to wear red, white, and blue on Independence Day and all summer long. Here are three options I’m loving right now, whether you’re planning to stay home or celebrate in your travels!

Nantucket Chic

Leaning a little towards “glam” this summer season? Channel your inner Jackie O. with this New England island vibe. I love a good pair of white jeans that can take me from spring, through summer, and even into the fall while I cling to my summery affection. A classic button-down is an absolute essential whether I’m hanging out in the District, jet-setting to Europe (hello, multi-functionality!), or just hanging out with friends close to home. And fun accessories like neck scarves and sunglasses always take me from feeling cute and fun to chic and classy.

BBQ Cutie

Some of my best Fourth of July memories are from an annual cookout and pool party with family! My brothers and I looked forward to it every year, and even though I’ve been gone a while, those memories are the ones I come back to every summer. The key to a Southern BBQ outfit is cute yet cool, am I right? That’s why I love this casual sundress and tee combo! I love that a knotted tee is both function and gives me a defined waistline, and if I get some BBQ sauce on it, I can just take it off and act like it was a planned wardrobe change!

Firecracker Queen

You know who has the best fireworks show in the USA? Nashville! Music City just does outdoor events right, you know what I mean? They’re fun, they’re full of surprises (often in the form of famous guests), and they’re as big as Dolly’s hair! Everyone loves outdoor events, so if you’re headed to Nashville for the fireworks this year (or your uncles huge fireworks show in the back pasture!), here’s the perfect outfit for you!
