Hey, Poppie's fam! Sarah here. If you know me personally, you know that I am a New Yorker at heart, and its my absolute favorite place to travel. I could write a book on it, but I thought I would start with a fashion blog from my last trip this past week! I love to travel, and I obviously love fashion with my profession and all, so I'm excited to see worlds collide with this article.
Let's start with my go-to airport picks. This particular trip was only a three night, four day trip, and the air was predicted to be semi-chili, so I had to travel with my coat on and bulkiest shoes for packing purposes (I personally love just bringing a carry-on so I can bypass bag check-in).
Here, I'm wearing my Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, our Bone Knit Button Shacket, a graphic tee, Dr. Martens and my Yankees hat. I always travel with my Spanx leggings and often wear multiple times during my trip! They can be dressed up or down, are SO comfy and flattering, and are a super easy and light item to pack! We carry these Spanx, and many others, in stores and online. They also ship for free!
With it being the first week of October, the chill in the air and colors of the foliage in New York were a dream. Most of our time was (well) spent in Central Part and surrounding uptown areas, whizzing through crunched leaves and by small town coffee shops on city bikes. I channeled my inner Meg Ryan romcom self and took advantage with some really cute looks from Poppie's I fell in love with wearing.
The afternoon we arrived, I had a little anniversary surprise planned and had found a Central Park photographer on Instagram (the power of hashtags lol). I wanted to channel a timeless look, so I went with our new Chunky Oversized Cable Sweater and Chocolate Pleated Faux Leather Skirt. I cannot tell you how confident these items made me feel, and it hit the vibe I wanted to feel perfectly!
Day two, we took the F train from our Central Park located hotel down to China Town and Little Italy for some great food and street shopping. I wanted to stay warm, but also comfy, so I wore my favorite mom jeans (similar ones here) and our new Serena Preppy Plaid Coat for a classic fall feel. I paired these with my Air Force's and our new Seamless Essential Bodysuit (comes in 3 colors and is under $23!)
That evening, I checked off a bucket list item by seeing HUGH JACKMAN and SUTTON FOSTER in The Music Man on broadway. They were sensational and truly enchanting in every way. I was teary eyed with joy sitting through each musical number, as I am a theatre nerd through and through. I wore the
Serena Preppy Plaid Coat for the chilly walk from Central Park towards Times Square and our new Brynlee Camel Balloon Sleeve Dress with some cute loafers and ankle socks I picked up at H&M earlier that day. I was definitely channeling my inner American Girly, Samantha (if you know, you know).
The following day was a lax day with no plans, so we met a friend of ours who lives on the Upper East side for a quick visit and also got our steps in at the MET and Guggenheim museums for a truly picturesque day. We even got the pleasure of riding our bikes down by Mr. Sheffield's house from one of my favorite sitcoms (90's kids know), The Nanny. It must be noted that Hunter and I did sing the theme song repeatedly during our stroll by the residence.
She had style, she had flare, she was there...and she wore the Clueless Wide Leg Trousers. When I tell you I love these pants- I love these pants. They are elastic waist, wide leg, and SO comfy. I wore my true size Medium, and I'm usually a size 6-8 in pants.
Lastly, we ended the trip with a night I will never forget: getting the pleasure of seeing the iconic, patron saint of piano, Billy Joel. It was his 130th residency show at Madison Square Garden, and it was a sold out affair. I knew I wanted to make the outfit special, so I paired my Billy Joel graphic tee with our Harrison Checked Blazer in Black and our Black Leather Mini Skirt. Of course, I had to go all out with tights, red lips, and a red beret to match (from Amazon). This may be my favorite outfit I've ever worn in my entire life. This outfit goes especially well with crying to Vienna and screaming My Life.
Thank you for following along with my fits and travels, and I hope to write again soon. If you're considering going to NYC, the answer is yes. Go. Message us and I will definitely share my favorite pizza spot with you!
xoxo,
Sarah
